Why WoW might get you more dates than an online dating site [infographic]

You might not play online games like World of Warcraft with the intention of meeting your soulmate, but according to recent studies—you’re more likely to meet your love match in a virtual fantasy world than an online dating network. And according to the studies aggregated in the infographic below, the meaningful connections gamers make over online adventures go a lot further toward relationship building.

The Logic of Online Lovin’: Does Online Dating Work? [infographic]

We’ve all seen the commercials showing happy couples who met via one of the many online dating sites. Perhaps you’ve even met your sweetie on one of these sites. With approximately 1,500 active dating sites in the U.S. and every site espousing their special formulas for matching people with their soulmates, it seems like it would be easy to find that special someone online.

But does online dating really make it easier to meet that one-and-only soulmate? Or is finding that special someone just a matter of being in the right place at the right time—and not necessarily online?

Then vs. Now: How Teenagers have Changed from 1982-2012 [Infographic]

Those kids today… you may be the parent of a teenager and wondering what you’ve gotten yourself into. But do you have it worse than parents of the past? We all know that kids will be kids, but how much do they change over the course of a generation?

The typical teenager in the early 1980s was rocking a Walkman and had just seen E.T. Today’s average kid? He has a cellphone in his pocket, he listens to Rihanna, he’s less likely to finish high school and he’s more likely to practice safe sex.

Domain Names 101 [Infographic]

DomainNameSales.com, a name registration and web hosting company, created an infographic to teach brands domain name 101. The first tip is to invest in your domain name as you would secure a primary location for a storefront.

A great example of this is Diapers.com, which gets an average of 106 million unique visitors. More than half of these visitors found the site by using “diapers” as a search term. It’s the first thing that comes up on Google before a Wikipedia article about diapers. Using a company name such as MagnoliasCupcake.com may be an obvious choice, but not the right one. Shorter, more memorable names like mycupcake.com and ilovecupcakes.com can make a difference.

Here are tips to help you avoid these classic dot-com disasters — poolife.com, therapistsfinder.com or IPallover.com.

The Radical Growth of the App Economy [Infographic]

A recent study came out in which it was estimated that developing mobile applications accounted for nearly half a million new jobs on the market—a statistic I find absolutely staggering. It goes to show that seemingly small things can have an enormous impact on the economy.

This infographic lays out a few more statistics on the developing “app economy,” and also has some helpful tips on what apps can help readers with smartphones save money. My personal favorite is GasBuddy, which locates the where in your neighborhood gas prices are cheapest—something I’ve been finding more and more useful as gas prices climb. The Death of Manners [Infographic]

Please. Thank you. No, sir. Yes, ma’am. If these words sound foreign to you, it’s because we are in the middle of a rude awakening: manners, it seems, are dead in today’s society—and it’s not going unnoticed. In fact, 76% of adults believe Americans are ruder and less civilized than they were 20 or 30 years ago.

From the road to the sky, people are seeing more rudeness, hearing more rudeness, and speaking more rudeness. The question is: why? In the below infographic by Schools.com, we share shocking stats about just how rude today’s society is—and why old-fashioned manners have become extinct.

WTF is Pinterest [Infographic]

Saving recipes, images of fashions you like and recipes you wanna try someday in your computer or in a notebook is totally passé. With Pinterest, the new online bulletin board you can now pin everything you like and access them from anywhere, anytime.

The popularity of Pinterest is growing day by day and in the last six months of 2011 Pinterest experienced a 815% growth in traffic (unbelievable, but true!). The darling network of aspiring bakers, stylists and brides-to-be has such a charm that once you visit the site for the first time, you will definitely find something of your choice and become an ardent follower. It has also became one of the top 10 most visited social network sites and is the third in bringing in referral traffic to your business just behind Twitter and Facebook.

OnlineSchools.com has put together the infographic below, which is a nice primer to the site, its exponentially expanding reach, and some insight into who is using it.

6 Secret Multinational Giants [Infographic]

Check out our latest infographic on the multinational giants that just don’t care if you know their names or not. For me, the most impressive is the Taiwanese computer hardware producer, Quanta Computer. Quanta controls a huge marketshare and hauls in annual revenues higher than Amazon and Coca-Cola, but since they don’t carry many branded products, we simply don’t think of them as a sprawling multinational. Just consider that if you owned or gifted a Kindle Fire last year, it was manufactured at a Quanta plant in East Asia. And there’s a high chance that some component of your laptop came from Quanta.

When Social Consumers Go Viral [Infographic]

Apart from their general entertainment value, and obvious benefits like keeping in touch with friends, and staying up to date on news, sites like Facebook and Twitter offer a united voice to the American consumer. When so many individuals express their opinions via these sites, they gain power as a collective. This infographic shows that companies will stand to attention if enough people post regarding one of their policies or practices.

The Learning Power of Lego [Infographic]

Ole Kirk Christiansen created Legos in the 1940s in Denmark. Ole’s company originally sold and made wooden stepladders and ironing boards, until he started making wooden toys. The toys were more popular, so he decided to sell toys exclusively. He named the company LEGO, which came from the Danish phrase “play well“.

Lego bricks have withstood the test of time because of their unlimited open-ended possibilities - 400 billion bricks have been produced since 1958. Lego has been going strong for the last sixty years, developing children’s creativity, fine motor skills, teamwork, and curiosity. Who knows what the next fifty years will bring!

Check out this infographic to learn some history of LEGO and how it’s being used in the education field.

Who Will Buy the iPad 3 [infographic]

The official introduction of the iPad 3 is bearing down upon us, with most rumors placing the Apple press event on March 7 (and a little rumor we heard placing it on March 6). It’ll probably have a higher-resolution 2048×1536 “retina” display, a 1GHz quad-core Apple A6 processor, 4G connectivity, and it might have a few other surprises, too.

This exclusive infographic is created by the experts at AYTM Research (Ask Your Target Market), with help from Mashable.
